I really don't know what to say other than I think it might be my driver for my video card, but I can't find a vista version (I had to download some oblong driver from the Nvidia site that wasn't specific to the graphics card). And no,nvidia is still going strong. They actually put 3Dfx out of business. Available options I'm considering include: 32MB DDR nVidia GeForce2 GTS AGP 32MB heard ATI is really bad at driver support. And I don't know the difference between the 2 nVidia cards. why do i *need* the via agp drivers if the system runs fine without? should i really be getting better performance with ASUS drivers & VIA agp drivers? i setup. i guess the answer is to get a new motherboard without a VIA chipset. I read months ago that via chipsets & nvidia go together like oil & water. enjoy! yt.

The only difference is the s/nv/nvidia/ which is made by everyone which installs the drivers. Changing that text makes all the difference and if the video mode is supported by the non-accelerated driver, I don't understand why it isn't supported by the accelerated driver without editing any file.

As far as annoying video cards go, I wanted some 3D, but couldn't stand the "nvidia" driver, much less "fglrx", so I got a 9250 (~$45) which has full 2d and 3d with the open "radeon" driver. It plays Quake III, so I'm happy. I'll probably upgrade to a recent Radeon once the "RadeonHD" driver is ready.

Chances are the display is nVidia Go, however the sound is likely to be Toshiba proprietory and you may not find any drivers. It would have been much better to change the XP to the 'classic' style which looks very much like the Win9x/ME family and live with it. It is a MUCH more stable operating system,
